Storm Desmond has caused chaos throughout Monaghan over the weekend leaving hundreds of people cut-off and many businesses and homeowners out of pocket.

The weather seems to have calmed and rainfall hasn’t been near as heavy but many areas are still under water with a number of roads closed.

Northern Sound FM Reports – “Monaghan road update at 14:30pm(Sunday)
The N54 approaching Clones and 98 Avenue are both closed due to flooding.
The N2 at Moybridge and St. Macartans remain closed as does the N54 from the traffic lights at Dunnes Stores to Monaghan Credit Union in Monaghan Town.
There is also flooding of local roads around Tydavent and Gallinagh near Monaghan Town.
The flooding on the R183 Clones to Ballybay Road at Analore is still rising and may need to be closed later this evening.”

KR Hire on the Glen road in Monaghan has offered to help those effected by the floods for free.

“Anyone in need of water pumps to get rid of flood water from their homes or business in the Monaghan area , get in touch with us as we will provide free of charge this week, please share this post around with all your friends and family.”
