Fuel Laundering Plant Discovered In Castleblayney

An illegal fuel laundering plant has been discovered in the Castleblayney area.

Discovered in the Drumacon-Drumaskill area, the plant was capable of laundering ten million litres of fuel yearly.

Over 40,000 litres of suspected laundered fuel was discovered at the site, as well as 16 tanks each containing 1,000 litres of the associated waste product. Approximately 150 bags of bleaching earth and a 40-foot trailer were also seized.

The raid was part of Operation Loft, a joint agency crack down on the illegal fuel trade. Nineteen premises across several counties including Monaghan were searched as part of the investigation.
