Monaghan County Council Considering Door To Door Collection Of Household Charge

Monaghan County Council is considering sending staff door to door to collect the Household Charge throughout Monaghan.

The authorityl is struggling to make up a shortfall of  €800,000 euro for non payers and as a result, the Department of Environment have pulled finance from the council’s Local Government Fund.

The authority are also exploring different options of collecting the money such as phoning and sending letters to households that have not paid.

Acting County Manager of Monaghan Council David Fallon says they will use their database of those who have paid up to determine who is yet to pay.
