Protest In Blayney Over Job Losses

A protest outside Mc Connons Supervalue in Blayney is entering its second day following news the store is to close.

Staff and local people are protesting as Musgraves requested the appointment of a liquidator to the supermarket, which means 40 full-time and 15 part-time staff are losing their jobs.

Jim Mc Connon the owner of the store was called to a meeting in Dublin to talk about the future of the store when Musgraves announced they would cease trading immediately.

Members of Castleblayney Town Council and the Chamber of Commerce are calling for an urgent meeting with Musgraves.
