Monaghan Students Win Awards At Texaco Childrens Art Competition


Seven Monaghan students have been presented with top awards in this year’s 58th Texaco Children’s Art Competition.
Pictured is Frances Treanor (15), a pupil at St. Louis Convent Secondary School, Monaghan, who won second prize in category B of the competition. Presenting her with the award is Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Jimmy Deenihan TD and Enda Riney, Chairman of Valero Energy (Ireland) Limited.


Also pictured is Rachel McKenna (13), from Coláiste Oiriall, Monaghan, who won a Special Merit Award.
Other Monaghan winners who received Special Merit Awards at a ceremony held in Dublin recently were Aimee O’Reilly (11), Holly Francis (7), Cian Burns (7), Leah Fitzgerald (6), and Cónaill Marry (6), all of whom are from Scoil Naoimh Éanna, Carrickmacross.
