Diesel Clean-Up Cost Cost Taxpayer €1.5 Million


Over 1.5 million euro has been spent by the government cleaning up dumped diesel wash waste in county Monaghan.

The shocking figures were revealed at the county’s monthly meeting last night show that 156 incidents were recorded over eight years. Most of the dumping has been in the rural border areas of Carrickmacross and Castleblaney.

The authority also revealed that 8,000 man hours were put into cleaning up the incidents by illegal fuel launderers.

The information came to light after Sinn Fein councillor Noel Keelan lodged a questions and replies query.
