Secretary Refuses To Provide Documents Relating To Monaghan,Cavan And Dublin Bombings

The Northern Ireland Secretary Owen Patterson has refused to release anymore documents relating to the bombings in Monaghan, Belturbet and Dublin.

Vice Chairman of the Good Friday Agreement Committee, Deputy Joe O’Reilly, raised the matter with Mr Patterson during a public session yesterday afternoon.

Deputy O’Reilly asked the Northern Secretary to provide documents being sought by the families of the victims and to consider meeting them.

However, Mr Patterson said while he accepted the importance of closure for the families, he argued that the information already provided was adequate.
