Fuel Launderers Cost Monaghan Council €1.5 million

Over €1,500,000 million of Irish taxpayer’s money has spent cleaning up after illegal fuel launderers in County Monaghan.

The county council in Monaghan has seen a huge increase in their spending in 2011 – having dealt with 37 incidents of diesel wash waste dumping – compared with just one in 2010.

According to reports in today’s Irish Examiner, since 2004 the county authority have incurred costs of up to 1.5 million euro in cleaning up the toxic sludge being dumped around the county.
